📏 How to Measure Your Roof Opening
Step 1 - Measure the Structural Opening The first step in purchasing your roof-light is to measure the structural opening where the roof-light will be installed. You should allow for 5mm tolerances all around to allow the bottom pane of the roof light to fit smoothly into the opening.
As an example, if your tight opening measurements are 1010mm × 1010mm, we would recommend you purchase a rooflight with a bottom pane of 1000mm × 1000mm so it slots in smoothly.
Step 2 - Understand the Top Pane Overhang For standard units, the top pane has a black 100mm overhang all around. Using the example above, this would make the overall size of the top pane 1200mm × 1200mm.
We can increase the size of the overhang if required, for example if the up-stand width is wider.
⚠️ Important - Measure Correctly Do not measure any existing glass, outer border, or roof covering. Only measure: ✅ The structural opening (tight measurement)
If you're unsure, send us your measurements and we'll confirm the correct size before you order. Our team regularly supports homeowners, builders, and contractors with accurate sizing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these specifically designed for flat roofs? Yes - engineered exclusively for flat roof installations, with the correct pitch tolerance and weatherproofing for low-slope applications.
What is the difference between double and triple glazing? Double glazed units have two panes with one argon-filled cavity. Triple glazed units have three panes and two cavities - delivering up to 40% better thermal performance, ideal for very exposed or energy-critical projects.
Why choose triple glazing over double glazing? Triple glazing is the premium choice for maximum energy efficiency, noise reduction, and condensation control. It's particularly suited to exposed locations, Passivhaus-style builds, or any project where long-term energy savings are a priority.
